Who I Am
At my core, I am a RESILIENT! woman on a mission to find and aid other survivors through my work as a writer and literary artist. I am committed to intriguing stories and compelling ideas; particularly those that explore what it means to be human in this crazy and unpredictable world.
What I Do
I tell stories. Telling good stories, for me, is much like telling good lies. Lying (as I've told my children numerous times) is more than just randomly fabricating a sequence of events. Creative liars enjoy the process of strategically taking apart the truth and thoughtfully adding, deleting or rearranging the details to create a new truth that is much more interesting. I am a creative liar; that is the nature of good storytelling. However, my hope is that in reading or hearing the stories I tell, my audience will have found something true about themselves and the world we live in.
I do a lot of other things too; like crocheting masterpieces, blogging for Healthy Place, writing poems, creative non-fiction books and articles, acting in community theater, promoting mental health awareness, dissecting human body parts for lab analysis, advocating for social justice and networking with people all over the world through social media and in person. I can also be found traveling with my wife, playing with my kids, running with my dog, partying with friends (and strangers), practicing yoga, cooking really great food.
